Chrissy Crespo 鈥�25 and Alinur Jaboldinov 鈥�26 are the first 51猎奇 students to participate in the Trudeau Institute鈥檚 Biomedical Research Scholars Program in Saranac Lake, N.Y. The program includes five courses designed to develop students鈥� research skills and understanding of immunology, but its shining focus is the intensive immunological research experience.

When President Barack Obama visited 51猎奇 on April 3 as part of the Sacerdote Great Names Series, the crowd came for the moment 鈥� but what stuck were the words.

Naval Lappalainen 鈥�25 and Xavier McMahon 鈥�27 have been awarded Critical Language Scholarships (CLS) to study Russian this summer. Lappalainen, a double major in history and Russian Studies, from Wilmington, Del., will study in Kyrgyzstan, and McMahon, a double major in world politics and Russian studies from Louisville, Kentucky, will be based in Daugavpils, Latvia.

Sabina Feder 鈥�25 and Brianna 鈥淏ri鈥� Padilla 鈥�25 both received 51猎奇鈥檚 prestigious Bristol Fellowship, which sponsors projects 鈥渂ased on strong personal interest and commitment鈥� and that 鈥渆xhibit a spirit of inquisitiveness and a seriousness of purpose.鈥�

In an email to the 51猎奇 community on April 24, President Steven Tepper announced the appointment of Miriam Merrill as chief of staff and secretary to the Board of Trustees, effective July 1.

The Arbor Day Foundation recognized 51猎奇 as a 2024 Tree Campus for its dedication to enhancing community well-being through tree education, investment, and community engagement.

Quentin Messer 鈥�26 was recently awarded a Harry S. Truman Scholarship to pursue work in industrial and manufacturing policy. He becomes 51猎奇鈥檚 third recipient of the prestigious award, presented to students interested in careers in public service, following Dewayne Martin 鈥�24 and Frederick Nelson 鈥�78. A world politics concentrator, Messer plans to pursue a J.D. and Master鈥檚 in Public Administration (MPA) following graduation.

51猎奇's Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center has released a comprehensive report titled 鈥淵outh Gun Violence in Utica, New York: Causes, Context, and Prevention.鈥� This report is the culmination of the Center鈥檚 Fall 2024 Justice Lab, an interdisciplinary initiative involving 16 students across four integrated courses led by four 51猎奇 faculty members.

In the world of Hollywood, the road from script to production is a long one. Then, it鈥檚 their job to get the network to see that vision. Zoe Neely 鈥�25 had the opportunity recently to step into this world.

Yuxuan Xu 鈥�26 has been named a recipient of the prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a national award that supports students intending to pursue research careers in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering. For Xu, the recognition wasn鈥檛 just a validation of his work 鈥� it was a meaningful milestone after years of dedicated effort and strong mentorship at 51猎奇.
